Christmas is fast approaching and with all the parties, events and New Year celebrations coming up, this is a great time to start thinking about skin rejuvenation.
The autumn and winter months are particularly useful for many of our rejuvenation treatments as there is less sun exposure, which makes treatments such as peels, microneedling and laser resurfacing easier to plan.

Chemical Peels
Chemical peels can be particularly useful for patients with acne, pigmentation, dull skin and uneven skin tone.
They work by using carefully selected acids to remove damaged surface skin cells and encourage healthier skin turnover underneath.
At Complete Dermatology, we offer mandelic acid and salicylic acid peels. Both are suitable for treating acne and hyperpigmentation, or simply giving a lovely glow to the skin.
There are different strengths and types of peel, and the right choice will depend on your skin type and what we are trying to treat.
A course of peels can be a very useful way of gradually improving skin clarity and texture without significant downtime.

SkinPen Microneedling
Microneedling remains one of my favourite treatments for general skin rejuvenation.
At Complete Dermatology I use the award-winning SkinPen device, which creates controlled micro-channels within the skin. This stimulates the natural repair process and encourages collagen production.
Microneedling can be useful for improving skin texture, fine lines, acne scarring, pigmentation and overall skin quality.
For patients who want gradual skin rejuvenation without moving straight to more intensive treatments, this can be a very good place to start.

I particularly like this treatment for skin rejuvenation, skin tightening, uneven texture and for patients beginning to notice some loss of firmness.
It offers a step up from traditional microneedling while still allowing treatment to be tailored to the individual patient.

For more significant skin rejuvenation, CO2 laser resurfacing allows us to treat concerns such as wrinkles, sun damage, pigmentation, uneven skin texture and signs of ageing.
We can tailor the intensity of CO2 treatment depending on your skin, your concerns and the amount of downtime that you are comfortable with.
Ultra-lite – CO2 Light Laser Peel
Ultra-lite is our lighter CO2 laser treatment and is particularly suited to uneven texture and dull skin tone.
The aim is to gently resurface the skin and reveal fresher, healthier-looking skin underneath.
Best results may be achieved in combination with exosomes.
Downtime: approximately 3-5 days

Ultra – CO2 Fractional Resurfacing
Ultra is a more intensive fractional CO2 resurfacing treatment.
This treatment is designed to improve skin tone and texture while also stimulating collagen production, making it useful for wrinkles, pigmentation and visible signs of ageing. Again, this treatment may be combined with exosomes where appropriate.
Downtime: up to 5 days

Revive – RF Microneedling + CO2 Fractional Resurfacing
Revive is our most comprehensive rejuvenation treatment and combines RF microneedling with CO2 fractional resurfacing in one treatment.
This allows us to work at different levels of the skin, combining deeper collagen stimulation with surface resurfacing.
For patients looking for more intensive skin renewal, this can be a very effective option.
Best results may be seen in combination with exosomes.
Downtime: up to one week

Which treatment is right for you?
As always, there is no single treatment that is right for everybody.
Some patients may benefit from a simple course of peels or SkinPen microneedling, while others may be better suited to RF microneedling or CO2 laser resurfacing.
The best treatment will depend on your skin type, the concerns you want to address, your previous treatments and how much downtime you are comfortable with.
